アニメFuturama（フューチュラマ）Season1の2話の動画を視聴しました。
その中で、Bender（ベンダー）が歌っていた曲について少し調べてみました。
FuturamaはアメリカのアニメThe Simpson（ザ・シンプソンズ）の作者で漫画家のMatt Groening（マット・グレイニング/グローニング）が制作したアニメです。

主人公はニューヨークに住む25歳の冴えないピザ配達人フィリップ・J・フライである。1999年12月31日にピザを配達に行った先の研究所で誤って凍結保存されてしまい、解凍されて目覚めたときには千年後の2999年12月31日であった。物語は、フライが仕事を得た先の惑星間運送会社プラネットエクスプレス社の欠点だらけな社員たちとのドタバタや強い絆と、千年後の未来の社会問題や惑星間関係などをブラックユーモアを交えて描いている。
「フューチュラマ」とは、1939年のニューヨーク万博でゼネラル・モーターズ（GM）が出展した伝説のパビリオン、「フューチュラマ」に由来する。GMの社内研究をもとにノーマン・ベル・ゲディーズ（Norman Bel Geddes）がデザインした、20年後（1959年）のアメリカの都市や郊外を再現したジオラマは、アメリカ大衆の輝かしい未来観やSFの未来描写に多大な影響を与えた。アニメ『フューチュラマ』は、フューチュラマをはじめとした、今となっては懐かしくすらあるレトロフューチャーな未来都市やガジェットをパロディにしている。

Benderが歌っている曲はShe'll Be Coming 'Round the Mountainでアメリカでは子供の頃に学校で歌ったりする童謡のようなものです。

She'll Be Coming 'Round the Mountain, also sometimes called simply Coming 'Round the Mountain, is an American folk song often categorized as children's music.
Although the first printed version of the song appeared in Carl Sandburg's The American Songbag in 1927, the song is believed to have been written during the late 1800s. The song was based on an old Negro spiritual titled When the Chariot Comes. During the 19th century it spread through Appalachia where the lyrics were changed into their current form. The song was later sung by railroad work gangs in the Midwestern United States in the 1890s. The song's style is reminiscent of the "call and response" structure of many folk songs of the time.
